THE SUFFOLK TREE WARDEN NETWORK

We are a CIO!

We are delighted to share these messages from our partners on gaining CIO status:

Tim De-Keyzer, Head of Natural & Historic Environment Suffolk County Council:

"... I know that seeking charitable status takes a lot of work. I look forward to continuing to work with you in the protection and enhancement of Suffolk’s treescape."

Sara Lom CEO, The Tree Council:

"Huge congratulations to the Suffolk Tree Wardens on becoming a registered charity. We wish you every success for a green and tree-filled future!
We very much look forward to working with you in the months and years to come.
Best wishes and many congratulations again,"

Esther Rosewarne Landscape Partnership Manager, The Woodland Trust:

"This is fantastic news. Congratulations to everyone involved. I hope this opens lots of new doors for the network and I'm really looking forward to seeing how our partnership develops for the benefit of woods, trees, and people in Suffolk."

The Big County

THE SUFFOLK TREE WARDEN NETWORk

Though we are a big county, Suffolk only has around 8% tree cover because of the emphasis on agriculture and wide open fields. For comparison Surrey has around 30% of its land covered with trees and London 20% so there’s plenty of scope for planting and for taking care of the wonderful trees we already have in our varied landscapes. Our work at the grass or tree roots level was recognised when we won the Greenest Community Award (2021) in the SCC Greenest County Awards.

THE SUFFOLK TREE WARDEN NETWORK

Join Us

We very much hope that you will join us by becoming a volunteer Tree Warden for your parish or local council. And don’t be put off if you see that your parish or council already has a tree warden - there’s no limit on the number and so much to do.

Getting involved and working with trees is an immediate way to help tackle and mitigate the climate and loss of biodiversity crises. Trees make for a better future, and we are the only community group in Suffolk putting trees first now and for all our tomorrows. Join us today.

So whether you are an existing Tree Warden, a prospective new Tree Warden, or a member of the public seeking help on tree-related matters, please contact our coordinator Patti.
